Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) is one of Nigeria's electricity distribution companies, responsible for electricity distribution and marketing across Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States. The company is seeking a Legal Officer to provide legal guidance, support regulatory compliance and manage legal matters affecting its operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry requirements
• Advise company executives and departments on legal and corporate matters
• Provide guidance on contracts, legal risks and business transactions
• Lead contract development and support the formation of agreements with counterparties
• Draft, review, negotiate and execute contracts and other legal documents
• Handle civil, commercial and regulatory disputes
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel
• Identify compliance risks and develop preventive or corrective action plans
• Provide legal guidance on employee matters and labour relations
• Advise employees on applicable laws, regulations and corporate policies
• Provide legal interpretation for corporate communications and business transactions
• Research relevant statutes, judicial decisions and legal codes and develop appropriate solutions

Requirements

• LL.B (Hons) degree
• B.L certificate of Call to Bar
• At least 2 years of post-call experience
• Must be resident in Imo State
• Excellent knowledge of corporate law and legal procedures
• Strong understanding of the external factors affecting corporate operations
• Ability to develop proactive and defensive legal strategies
• High level of professional ethics and integrity
• Sound judgement and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills
