Job Description
Maersk, one of the world's largest logistics and shipping conglomerates managing roughly one-fifth of global seaborne container trade, is accepting applications for a Student Assistant / Intern role in Vendor Management at its Lagos office. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in supply chain, logistics, and procurement within a Fortune 500 company operating across 130 countries. You'll work alongside experienced professionals while building practical skills that can launch a serious career in global logistics.
Responsibilities
- Track vendor performance against agreed KPIs and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Collect, validate, and analyze vendor performance data
- Support weekly and monthly vendor performance review meetings
- Prepare vendor scorecards, dashboards, and performance reports
- Monitor daily transport and logistics vendor activities
- Follow up on operational issues, delays, and corrective actions
- Maintain vendor action logs and continuous improvement plans
- Support vendor onboarding, qualification, and compliance documentation
- Generate KPI reports: On-Time Delivery, Transit Time Compliance, Safety, Claims, Capacity Utilization, and Cost Performance
- Attend vendor meetings, prepare minutes, and follow up on agreed actions
- Support operational audits and SOP implementation activities
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, Operations Management, Economics, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Basic understanding of data analysis and reporting
- Knowledge of supply chain and logistics concepts
- Familiarity with Power BI is an added advantage
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to improvement initiatives
- Previous internship experience is an advantage but not required
