Goonite Hygiene Products FZE, one of Nigeria's major FMCG manufacturers established in 2020 with an investment of over 36 billion Naira, is recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Graduate Trainee to join its Engineering and Maintenance team at its Lekki Free Zone facility in Lagos. The company manufactures and distributes the Besense sanitary pads and Lebrace baby diapers brands, managing the full value chain from production to distribution across Nigeria.

This is a hands-on graduate trainee role offering practical on-the-job training in production equipment maintenance, precision tool sharpening, machine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Fresh graduates and NYSC completers are encouraged to apply. Application deadline is 16 November 2026.

Goonite Hygiene Graduate Trainee Programme Responsibilities

• Assist with the sharpening and maintenance of rotary cutting knives, slitter blades, embossing rolls and other precision tools
• Learn to operate grinding and sharpening machines under the supervision of experienced technicians
• Assist in inspecting cutting edges and machine components using precision measuring tools
• Support routine and preventive maintenance of diaper and sanitary pad production machines
• Assist in identifying and troubleshooting basic mechanical faults and equipment breakdowns
• Support the replacement, adjustment, alignment and lubrication of machine components
• Learn to work with mechanical components including bearings, shafts, gears, rollers, belts, chains and pneumatic systems
• Assist in maintaining records of tool sharpening, machine maintenance, breakdowns and repairs
• Work with Production and Maintenance teams to minimise machine downtime and ensure smooth production
• Follow all approved maintenance procedures, work instructions and health and safety requirements
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and working environment
• Participate actively in technical training and learning opportunities provided by the company

Requirements for the Goonite Hygiene Mechanical Engineering Graduate Trainee Programme

• ND, HND, B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field
• Fresh graduates and candidates with 0 to 2 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply
• NYSC graduates or candidates who have recently completed their service year may be considered
• Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and engineering tools
• Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings is an advantage
• Good analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills
• Safety-conscious and willing to work in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to work shifts when required
