Job Description

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is recruiting a National Operations Specialist to support the implementation of the SURAGGWA Project in Kano, Nigeria.

This 12-month National Project Personnel opportunity is open to qualified Nigerian nationals and involves project coordination, operational support, agricultural and food security data management, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring of project activities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project implementation, monitoring, and reporting in line with FAO procedures.
  • Liaise with government authorities, implementing partners, and UN agencies.
  • Support the development of policies, programmes, and project proposals.
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting.
  • Collect, analyse, and manage agricultural and food security data.
  • Organise field missions, stakeholder engagements, and project activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, advocacy materials, and communication outputs.
  • Support the development of tools and frameworks for project implementation.
  • Supervise and guide junior staff where required.

Requirements

  • Advanced University Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in agricultural development or project implementation.
  • Working knowledge of English and Hausa at Level C.
  • Must be a Nigerian national.
  • Experience in project or programme management and policy analysis.
  • Knowledge of food security, agriculture, and rural development.
  • Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
  • Familiarity with UN or FAO operational procedures is an advantage.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, partnership-building, and accountability skills.
