ECOWAS Volunteer Programme 2026 Is Open – Apply Now

ECOWAS is a regional organisation promoting cooperation, integration, peace and security across West Africa. Through its Volunteers Programme, ECOWAS is recruiting a Programme Assistant to provide administrative, documentation, coordination and communication support to the ECOWAS Peace Fund Secretariat in Abuja. The role is a 12-month fixed-term volunteer assignment starting 1 November 2026, renewable subject to budget availability and satisfactory performance. Open to Nigerian nationals aged 35 and below. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Application deadline is 2 October 2026.

Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative and documentation support to the ECOWAS Peace Fund Secretariat
• File, maintain and archive programme and financial documents
• Support preparation, digitisation and structured archiving of Peace Fund correspondence, agreements and donor reports
• Assist with preparation and management of technical meetings including hybrid, virtual and in-person sessions
• Draft and format briefs, meeting minutes, correspondence, memoranda and other administrative documents
• Support production of donor-facing visibility materials, programme briefs, fact sheets, infographics and executive summaries
• Assist with content development and scheduling for institutional communication channels including social media and website content
• Liaise on correspondence between the Peace Fund Secretariat and other ECOWAS directorates
• Prepare periodic status reports and compile information for programme monitoring and donor compliance reporting

Requirements:

• Must be a Nigerian national
• Must not be older than 35 years at the time of recruitment
• Available to serve at the Abuja duty station
• Prepared to undertake a 12-month fixed-term volunteer assignment
• Strong administrative, documentation and communication skills
