Job Description

Green Habitat Initiative (GHI), a nonprofit focused on environmental sustainability in Nigeria, is seeking a Human Resources Officer to support recruitment, employee relations, performance management, staff development, and HR compliance. The successful candidate will help strengthen HR systems and build a productive, inclusive, and values-driven workplace aligned with GHI's sustainability mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of HR strategies, policies, and processes aligned with GHI's goals and values.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement activities.
  • Support employee relations and provide HR guidance to staff and management.
  • Assist with performance management processes and staff feedback mechanisms.
  • Coordinate training and staff development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with labour regulations and maintain accurate HR records and documentation.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and accountable organizational culture.
  • Provide technical leadership and support on HR-related matters.
  • Engage and manage strategic stakeholders, including government, implementing partners, academia, beneficiary communities, and the private sector.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives.
  • Conduct research and provide clear, practical analysis to support organizational needs.
  • Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders through written, virtual, phone, and in-person channels.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Human Resources role.
  • Proven expertise in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices and Nigerian labour regulations.
  • Proficiency in HR software and project management tools such as ClickUp, Odoo, Slack, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, analytical, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to GHI's mission and values.
  • Knowledge of the sustainability agenda and its relationship with business.
  • Strong interest in driving corporate action on sustainable development.
  • International and innovative outlook and mindset.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with key decision-makers and understand client needs.
  • Strong research, critical thinking, and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Proven ability to present and communicate professionally with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to communicate persuasively in writing and maintain effective two-way communication.
  • Ability to engage and manage strategic stakeholders across government, implementing partners, academia, beneficiary communities, and the private sector.
  • Experience in capacity building.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
