Job Description

The Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA), an independent humanitarian medical NGO providing medical care in emergency and catastrophe settings, is recruiting a Supply Manager to support its mission in Nigeria. The role is responsible for designing, planning, and implementing supply chain activities while ensuring timely procurement and delivery of goods, medicines, equipment, and services supporting ALIMA's interventions in North East Nigeria.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan project procurement in coordination with the Logistics Manager, Pharmacy Manager, Medical Coordinator, and Logistics Coordinator.
  • Maintain and regularly update local and international procurement tracking sheets.
  • Ensure compliance with ALIMA procurement procedures and donor financial requirements.
  • Follow up on international supplies, customs clearance, transit, and required documentation.
  • Support logistics planning and project logistics chronograms.
  • Coordinate local procurement through the coordination office and ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensure local purchases meet ALIMA procurement guidelines, quality standards, and value-for-money requirements.
  • Conduct market intelligence and monitor prevailing market prices.
  • Review supplier prices to support effective cost control.
  • Conduct open market competitions and establish framework agreements for recurring supplies.
  • Maintain supplier databases and mission-level price lists.
  • Regularly evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, and service.
  • Ensure procurement procedures and approval thresholds are properly followed.
  • Prepare tender documents and requests for quotations.
  • Conduct field visits to support field logistics and procurement compliance.
  • Manage supply requests in coordination with Logistics and Medical teams.
  • Coordinate medical and non-medical local and international orders.
  • Work with Finance on budget forecasting for supplies and review payment documentation for procurement compliance.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, customs clearing agents, and freight forwarders.
  • Track outstanding orders and provide regular updates to relevant teams.
  • Participate in emergency activities and exploratory missions when required.
  • Define and update job profiles for supply chain staff.
  • Participate in staff recruitment, supervision, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Strengthen the skills of supply chain personnel and promote effective team communication.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly procurement reports.
  • Conduct regular market surveys and share findings with programme teams.
  • Report supply-related challenges to the line manager.

Requirements:

  • University or technical school diploma; supply-related studies are desirable.
  • At least 2 years of experience in supply chain-related roles.
  • Experience with ALIMA or other international NGOs is desirable.
  • Experience working in developing countries is desirable.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Fluency in at least two local languages, including Hausa, Kanuri, or Yoruba.
  • French language skills are an advantage.
