The Global Leadership Challenge (GLC) 2025 is officially accepting applications. This annual program unites 100 exceptional postgraduate students and young professionals from around the world, offering a platform to learn, collaborate, and design practical solutions to some of today’s most pressing global challenges.

What is the Global Leadership Challenge?

The GLC is an intensive leadership development initiative that focuses on responsible and sustainable leadership. Unlike traditional academic conferences or seminars, the GLC blends theory with practice, giving participants the chance to:

• Receive training from world-class faculty, policymakers, and industry leaders

• Work in multicultural, interdisciplinary teams to develop actionable solutions

Theme for 2025: Sustainable Living at Scale

The theme of this year’s challenge is “Sustainable Living at Scale.” With rising populations, urbanization, and climate pressures, the question of how large communities can live sustainably has become more urgent than ever.

Participants will be tasked to design solutions that:

• Promote eco-friendly lifestyles that are both accessible and affordable

• Encourage healthier diets, cleaner consumption, and reduced waste

• Align with real-world sustainability goals pursued by governments, NGOs, and businesses

This theme reflects the vision of The Schwarz Group (including Lidl and Kaufland), a global retail leader committed to building a future of sustainability and responsible consumption.

Who is Eligible?

GLC 2025 is open to students and young professionals worldwide who demonstrate passion, leadership, and commitment to positive change.

You can apply if you are:

• Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program, or

• A young professional aged 21–30 with a completed undergraduate degree

Additional requirements:

• Strong interest or proven record in responsible leadership (academics, volunteering, community service, or work projects)

• Availability for five half-day sessions between 11–15 December 2025

• Commitment to attend all sessions fully in order to receive the Certificate of Achievement

Importantly, candidates from all academic disciplines are welcome—from sciences and engineering to social sciences, arts, and business.

Timeline of GLC 2025

• Applications Open: 26 September 2025

• Application Deadline: 2 November 2025

• Selection & Notification: Mid-November 2025

• Program Dates: 11–15 December 2025 (virtual half-day sessions)

What You Need to Apply

Applicants must prepare the following materials:

1. Personal Information – Full name, contact details, academic or professional background.

2. Documents:

   • Curriculum Vitae (PDF)

   • Recent professional portrait photo (JPEG or PNG)

   • Proof of current enrollment (if you are a student)

3. Video Submission:

   • A short video (maximum 40 seconds) in English

   • Topic: “What does responsible leadership mean to you?”

   • Format: MP4 or MOV, uploaded to YouTube (unlisted), Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, or Dropbox

   • Ensure the file link is publicly accessible (no password required)

4. Short Responses:

   • Suggest a keynote speaker who could inspire future leaders

   • Share one concise example (50 words max) of how you have demonstrated responsible leadership

Selection Process

The selection committee looks for candidates who demonstrate:

• Clear motivation to address global challenges
